What a marvelous serendipitous story! Love this chance meeting and the connection of place with your friend.

Your encounter with the fossil lady is uncanny and I think important. Not to mention what she finds and sees is intriguing. Some people have and extra "eye" for things. My Dad was one. The arrowheads he found were incredible, ancient spirits to another time. Thank you for sharing the photo of Milton's resting spot. I feel as if I have come to know, in a small way, what a unique and incredible person he was.

I came back to reread this again about your chance encounter with the woman who found the fossil. The serendipity of it.

Thank you for mentioning the woman who'd found that fossil. Bits of flotsam and jetsam found in cultivated fields are common, but only if one is into a bit of exploration. That's what I and my gardening partners, Rick and Sarah, used to do on a loaned piece of land we'd "acquired" through musician friends. Hiring a local farmer whose tractor or later our Troy-built tillers to plow the land then again throughout the gardening season after rains, our good fortune had us plucking arrow and spear points, in effect, finishing the unearthing process that the land had begun. I need to think more often of those grand times and your words tilted me in that direction. BB

Delightful story! I’m left imagining the woman as a dweller between worlds, sent by your friend to show you a secret.

It’s late, my eyes are so, so tired but you pulled me along with this stranger & I’m so thankful. These are the kind of folks I like to run up with, “on the fringes”. Bless you & your open heart. ❤️

Amazing what the universe can put in your lap when you’re out rambling with love in your heart. Also, I’ll be in Franklin, NC for a few days around the 1st of April. Excited to check out the seed monument and the local brewery.

I love these stories. I live at the headwaters of the Yellow River in Tucker. Camp Creek flows 50 feet behind my house. Today I brought my sister from Seattle to see the coast, including the Altamaha. We decided to drive rather than float here, just for expediency. We stopped at Harris Neck to see the wood storks and we are staying at Crooked River SP. I'm just so happy to share this gorgeous part of the country with her. Your books help me appreciate it more.

Hi Janisse! Here's a word to celebrate the creation: "The earth is the Lord's and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters." Psalm 24:1,2 Happy Easter! Rick

That’s really cool Janisse! I’m often the person stopping other people walking by in the trail with look at this look at this, lol. I think most of them think I’m a little mad. Yesterday I was stopping women I’ve seen on the trail before just to show them the little trout lily patch that I found. I can’t believe how often I’m totally engaged in looking at something and people just walk by and they don’t even want to know what it is. If I see someone doing that I always stop and say what are you doing? What are you looking at? I remember one time I was standing there watching a baby owl that was in plain sight, and so many people went past me without even pausing. I can’t imagine not being curious in that way! I’d have been thrilled if you stopped.
