I found the discussion of the different kinds of environmentalists interesting. Personally, I am an Anarchoenvironmentalist. We are the people Ayn Rand warned you about.
Janisse, the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center sounds like a place the Ashantilly Press folks need to know!!! Know you must stay in a semi-exhausted state - those moments of quiet with friends at conferences while sessions are going on must be heaven!!!
Been thinking about you all week, and hoped it was going well. So glad you could go and soak in all that stimulation. And let those scholars know about your work! May you bring the refreshment of it home with you.
I don't know where to begin to respond to all that you've shared, but you've made my morning!
My husband and I live in Silver Spring, just 15 minutes around the capital beltway from UMD, where Laurence received his undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Your mention of Rachel Carson prompts me to share that a museum in her honor, Springsong Museum (https://www.springsongmuseum.org/) is in the planning stages and will be located in Silver Spring. I can't wait to experience it, and although I'm already an overextended volunteer, I have a hunch that I'll find time to volunteer at Springsong!
Thank you for your wonderful update, and enjoy your homecoming.
In a world where I wonder how we will survive, your writing gives me hope and helps calm my mind
Beautifully exhilarating! so glad you could be there!
Little Fawn is already writing, wow!
In a language she developed herself, no less.
Always great to hear from you, Janisse, and how your light touch is a beacon that catches radar 💝 Thanks for the update!
Nice! And I like Little Fawn's message at the end.

Oh my goodness, that image of someone communing and swimming with the beavers at night. Thank you for sharing that.
Sounds like you had a wonderful experience at the conference and in the DMV area!
Savannah is your favorite City! I love that! I have a guest bedroom if you ever want to come visit.
Thank you for opening a window to so many worlds I didn't know.
