So many laughs! “You’d think tigers were loose”! Hahaha. I’m in sw Florida and while we didn’t get snow and ice we did get very cold weather for the tropics. Thankfully, I saved my Jersey gear but the snow shovel was gladly donated. Very adorable snow angel!

Thank you for the news about Leonard Peltier. Avoiding dreadful news means one misses out on some good news. I really needed some today!

Adored the photos of little Fawn in the snow with her sweater of many colors! Thoroughly enjoyed your writing today as it flowed like a beautiful stream, smooth and fluid. Snow is indeed a delight for the senses... especially the quietness, the softened outlines, and the refreshing contrast of warm and chill. Thank you!

Stay warm! And thanks for the snow report, plus the Leonard Peltier poem. I was thrilled when I heard the news of Biden's pardon. That's a genuine act of compassion I didn't expect. Blessings to you.

When I was a boy, it snowed once, and Daddy roped an old car hood to the tractor and pulled us around so we could 'sled' !

I'm envious of your snow -- we used to get lots in Wales, but here only a dusting. Love Little Fawn's expressions and her knitwear! x

Little Fawn is the cutest snow angel I have ever seen! Thank you for the great photos and story of the snow. It seems odd to be here in central Oregon where our winter has been mostly snow-less at our elevation, while the south is getting a snow surprise! Snuggling inside when it is cold and snowy outside is one of life's greatest comforts.

Here in upstate NY this is a common occurrence, but even so; driving after dark, on unlit country roads, in a snowstorm, is not for the faint of heart. How nice to get home safely and have the comforts of heat and electricity, a warm beverage and peace. Little Fawn is the perfect snow angel. She will love that photo, one day. Your hats are pretty, and at least you had those for winter weather. Keep my 99 dollars subscription, and hopefully, it will help with Little Fawn. She really is a beautiful child. I understand how many sacrifices you are making to raise her…..it is not easy. I do hope the blessing she brings to your life will more than compensate for the things you cannot do right now. Your previous post about your beginnings with her, left me in tears and I never could write an appropriate response. Thank you for your beautiful writing, for sharing your stories, and for being the loving, kind, compassion, intelligent, supportive, beautiful person that you are. Breathe! Find at least one small joy each day.. warm hugs to you and Little Fawn

Hey Janisse, what an eye-popping description of Storm Enzo and Little Fawn meeting as a snow angel and deep white earth.

Also dropping by to let you know I will miss this week’s Sunday Journaling Class. My wife’s sister-in-law will be memorized on Monday in Atlanta. We will drive in from SC on Sunday and have a reunion dinner with our oldest friends that evening. Given the national zeitgeist, I’ve been chanting “The lesbians are coming!” when imagining the celebrations of life with generations with whom we haven’t intersected in decades. We plan to stand tall, grieve in deliberate connection and bring family memories home on Tuesday.

I'm hunkering down in Athens, where it's been slightly warmer (enough to melt a good bit) until the sun goes down, and then it takes about a million hours once the sun comes up for the black ice to turn into less treacherous puddles (only to, of course, freeze again a few hours later). It's been wild to see friends in Tifton and Andalusia, Alabama, and north Florida and NOLA frolicking in the snow! And on BEACHES where snow-white sand meets sand-white snow in churning tides. So lovely, but definitely not worth risking our unprepared little tires to drive upon.

My son and one of his friends had a blast yesterday. It’s so refreshing to see 14-year-old boys play in the snow ALL. DAY. LONG. (especially when the default these days is to you tube, video games, and phone. )

In universal synchronicity, I learned of Leonard Peltier only a month ago when I started listening to Robbie Robertson’s “Contact from the Underworld.” There’s a track on there with Peltier called “Sacrifice.” I went down a rabbit hole and learned all about him. I’m glad for his freedom.

Thank you for writing posts that spark conversation. ❤️

I love the rest of your story but was very surprised by the news of pardon for Leonard Peltier. I have been avoiding political news lately but have prayed for this man’s release for so many years. Thank you President Biden.
