Your writing is fabulous, as always. Thank you for the poem of the horses. I just finished reading your Red Lanterns book of eco-poetry. The works are powerful. The credit to Bob Cummings is especially poignant given his demise.

I am also feeling remote and quiet, listening to birdsong instead of the news.

Thank you especially for this on, the invitation to feel moss (again) for the first time, and to touch the innocent one inside who is always wriggling her toes toward it.

Beautiful baby, Little Fawn. Beautiful flowers. Beautiful writing. I’d love to hear about the concert. Wish I could have been there!

Thanks for sending the farm love as the season slows down and we can awaken to wonder with an infant's eyes and toes. I'm looking forward to your class in January!

Little Fawn's little toesies! So adorable! Those wistful baby days---I almost miss them!

Really enjoyed the farm update, the real camera photo, and the divine sweetgum colorings. We too are just past peak of color here in Texas but some are still around, though leaves continue to fall by the day. Now I need to keep an eye out for violets.

Yes, can you believe that it's violet time already?

Funnily enough, not long after I left my comment my husband who is working in western Louisiana this week sent me photos of Viola walteri from today---no flowers, though!

The photos are lovely and the post, as always, a pleasure (mostly). Sorry you’ve had to deal with those intrusions. All the best to you three over this holiday time.

Janisse, I love every single thing about every single word in this newsletter (except the scammers). Little Fawn is the luckiest baby. And we are lucky to see the world through her, and your, eyes.

I love the photos and updates about Fawn. My granddaughter, Hadley is 6 months old and I have been writing her letters. I will send my 4th this weekend. And yes, I would like to see photos and hear how Walter Parks concert went at Cedar Grove Church. Thanks for your beautiful post, what a lovely gift.

I would dearly love to hear more about the concert at the church, and maybe some some longer clips of the music. What Raven posted on FB was just enough to show that it was lively and well-attended. And please do tell the story of little Fawn! I have been worrying about her mama, whoever she is. Fawn is safe with you, but I sure hope whatever it is, it is not permanent. <3 P.S. The photos are just lovely. <3

"Superpowers want people to feel baffled and disoriented. I am not. I am thinking carefully, staying quiet, watching the golden sun turn the trees golden." I love these words. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable writing, Janisse. It is amazing how much there is to attend to around our places, of the everyday. Though at times we may resent taking care of our places and the animals that live there because of the time away from other things we want to do, taking care of our places and animals is ultimately deeply satisfying and a iron bound connection to our place and the other lives we are responsible for. I would not change it for anything.

The photos of Little Fawn and the flowers and moss are precious. Reading her story would be lovely. I hear you on the horse's hooves! I just got ours all trimmed up (I spent twenty years as a farrier) last week. And yes, we would love to hear about the Walter Parks concert. I was wondering yesterday how it had gone.

💚
