Enjoyed this so much!

“Last Children in the Woods” -

Coincidentally I’m working through the last chapters of the 2005 book, which I started and never finished many years ago. Always heartwarming to happen upon a few of these rare youngsters!

Everything in this is appealing….the forest, old friends, kids, waterfall, the lost, the found. While I love reading words, seeing photos adds more beauty.

Good reprieve for those of us who remained here & heard about the possible gov’t shutdown, the senator’s windfall of gold and cash & the aquarium fishes that were dumped into Georgian waters.

Onward

Great column. It's interesting how forestry developed in Germany versus the US. Germany was the first to practice forest management and it always has been practiced with human use in mind. Despite some actions of the Forest Service, and it's birth to provide a constant supply of lumber for building, there has always been a strong preservationist/leave it natural element in the Forest Service, at least during my life time, and it has grown much stronger in the last 50 years. Glad to see you enjoying travel again.

Thank you for your writings over and over again. I did a 2-mi very mindful walk yesterday in the Presidio. (My knees are challenged).

The air the scents nestled on my being.

Your words are like droplets of inspiration. I continue to be in awe as I read them and find your explorations infectious. Thank you.

Love, love, love! ❤️❤️❤️. But I’m sorry you had to deal with the ‘vid on your holiday.

I went to first grade in Germany. My daddy was in the army and on the weekends he would take us to explore castles and cathedrals. Even at such a young age I still have vivid memories of the sights, smells, tastes, and the way Germany made me feel. Quite magical! Thanks for taking us with you!

Such an adventure you are having! So sorry to learn about the COVID experience. WOW! I had no idea Josh was in Germany as a JAG attorney although I always knew he would find an interesting path in life. The forest there sounds amazing and I am so thrilled you have gotten to explore it.
